How To Stop Facebook Emails From Posts You "Like"

Dear Facebook user,

LOVE Facebook??

HATE Facebook emailing you every comment of every person you know (or dont know) on every post you "like" or comment on??

ME TOO!! So, I took a couple minutes and figured out how to stop it.

1. Find your "Account" settings button (upper right on your HOME screen)

2. Click on it.

3. Click on "Account Settings"

4. Click on NOTIFICATIONS

5. Scroll down to "Wall Comments"

6. Turn off the email comments by removing the check marks (click on them to remove)

7. Dont forget to SAVE!! (Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES at the bottom of the list...)

Bingo! Bango! Bongo!

No more email notifications when people write on your wall, or anyone else's wall that you may have commented on or "like"d.(You will still receive notifications on these actions in the notifications icon at the top of your FB home page...)

Yup. You're welcome...

Clint

Came from Twitter where you tweeted this. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.

So annoying and prevents engagement because I don't really care in most cases what all their other friends think. :)

Jeff -- Exactly. I was losing emails in the fray cause they were buried by Facebook spam. ;-)

Posted by Clint Miller (Real Estate Client Referrals, LLC (RECR)) about 1 month ago

Clint - I think it's even more important to shut off ALL email from facebook and 'check in' to it on a schedule instead.  I hear so often of people dropping off facebook because they can't handle the emails.  It's not a facebook issue, it's an email issue.  Stop the email and facebook instantly becomes more enjoyable.

Good tutorial, Clint. Just like any social network, there are always options we can tweak to our online experience.

Hi Gwen and Clint....

I have a solution to the spam at CL.....someone that hates it more than you:  craig@craigslist.com

I must say that he is always looking for us as users to let him know who's abusing his site.  He takes spam seriously and gets rid of the culprits quickly.

Posted by Clint Miller (Real Estate Client Referrals, LLC (RECR)) about 1 month ago

Hi Clint - I would encourage everyone to look at the entire Notifications page, not just the Wall Comments section. There are several instances of "Comments after me ..." (in the Photos, Notes, Video and Link sections) that can also be unchecked as well as other items.

Clint,

Did not adjust my setting just ... If I like it more than likly I can find a new friend or two who likes it too. Just keeping it social.

Why connect with people that you have no interest in?  Now that's a waste of time.

However great post on how to manage your FB settings.

Clint, thanks for this post. The Lovely Wife noted that in Foxfire you could hide the game aps. It is not necessary to use Foxfire etc to hide the Farmville "stuff". If you click the "hide" button you can opt to just hide the game not the person. When you hide Farmville for that person for instance you have hidden it forever from everyone. No more request for dirt or corn.

Posted by Carol Williams (Crye-Leike Realtors) 2 days ago

Did that ages ago one second after the novelty of fb wore off. Thanks for thinking to share this tip. I sorta took it for granted.

Posted by Lisa Hickling (Remax Rouge River Realty Ltd., Brokerage) 2 days ago

Now it is even easier to eliminate this mess and eliminate the notifications you get from FB itself...

When you 'like' or comment on something, a new link will appear that says UNSUBSCRIBE. Simply click on that link and you will not be notified when the other 74 people comment or like the same page you did.

That way, even the notifications from FB are eliminated. ;-)
