Dear Facebook user,
LOVE Facebook??
HATE Facebook emailing you every comment of every person you know (or dont know) on every post you "like" or comment on??
ME TOO!! So, I took a couple minutes and figured out how to stop it.
1. Find your "Account" settings button (upper right on your HOME screen)

2. Click on it.

3. Click on "Account Settings"
4. Click on NOTIFICATIONS

5. Scroll down to "Wall Comments"

6. Turn off the email comments by removing the check marks (click on them to remove)

7. Dont forget to SAVE!! (Scroll down and click on SAVE CHANGES at the bottom of the list...)

Bingo! Bango! Bongo!
No more email notifications when people write on your wall, or anyone else's wall that you may have commented on or "like"d.(You will still receive notifications on these actions in the notifications icon at the top of your FB home page...)
Yup. You're welcome...

Thanks for the tutorial! Less static, saves time. Improves the "ride".
Andrew -- I couldn't agree more. ;-)
Awesome Cllint....thank you!!
Mary Kay -- You are quite welcome.
Great piece of advise! Thank you Clint, I will get right on this!
Clint..thanks for taking the time to figure this out and then letting us know....
Oh God yes . . . the notifications from FB are wayyy too numerous without those controls.
Thanks for the info, Clint. Less aggravation sounds good to me!
Thank you so much for these instructions. I spend so much time deleting emails from my mailbox everyday I really didn't want to have to do it on facebook too.
Came from Twitter where you tweeted this. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.
So annoying and prevents engagement because I don't really care in most cases what all their other friends think. :)
Clint, like all the other comments above... thank you, thank you!! ~ Susan
Martin -- Glad I could help.
Pat -- My pleasure.
Candice -- Happy this helps. ;-)
William -- Anything less aggravating is a good thing.
Katherine -- You are quite welcome. :-)
Missy -- Youre welcome, my dear. ;-) Always thrilled when I see your smiling face on my comments wall. ;-)
Susan -- You are welcome. Happy to help.
Thanks this will greatly reduce my inbox. Now if you could just come up with a solution to the spam from Craig's List...
Gwen -- Im not much of a CraigsList user....but, I will look into it for ya. ;-)
I hope someone suggested this for a Feature. ;-)
Thank you, Thank you.......You Da man !! I just "saved" this change.
Christine -- You are quite welcome. ;-) Happy to help.
Yes, someone did. :)
Candice -- You're a peach. ;-)
Much appreciate Clint. Really helps to cut down on stuff we don't need so we can focus on the interactions we should.
Jeff
Jeff -- Exactly. I was losing emails in the fray cause they were buried by Facebook spam. ;-)
Clint - I think it's even more important to shut off ALL email from facebook and 'check in' to it on a schedule instead. I hear so often of people dropping off facebook because they can't handle the emails. It's not a facebook issue, it's an email issue. Stop the email and facebook instantly becomes more enjoyable.
Good tutorial, Clint. Just like any social network, there are always options we can tweak to our online experience.
Hi Gwen and Clint....
I have a solution to the spam at CL.....someone that hates it more than you: craig@craigslist.com
I must say that he is always looking for us as users to let him know who's abusing his site. He takes spam seriously and gets rid of the culprits quickly.
Scott Miller, Realty Associates, Boca Raton, FL
Danielle -- Oh, I agree. I turned them all off, but I know some that want everything but this turned on. So, I figured I would start here. ;-)
John -- Amen! And, thanks for the kind words.
Scott -- Awesome-sauce! ;-) Thank you!
Clint, Seems like I only get a few emails … I will check the notifications settings to ensure that I do not get any. Thanks!
Kathleen -- I get BURIED in emails. Crazy how much...
Thank you very much Clint. I too don't really care what others are saying and don't we all get way too many emails.
Clint: Thanks man, I really appreciate it. It's been bugging for awhile and on my list (which I'd forget about until I get a bunch of messages from something I commented on or liked)... Mystery solved! YEAH...
Wendy -- Agreed...Just cause I 'Like" the post doesnt mean I want to hear what the other 37 crackpots that comment on it have to say. ;-)
Rene -- Yeah, I was in the same boat for a while. Finally sat down this morning and had to fix it. :-)
Hi Clint - I would encourage everyone to look at the entire Notifications page, not just the Wall Comments section. There are several instances of "Comments after me ..." (in the Photos, Notes, Video and Link sections) that can also be unchecked as well as other items.
that is the goldmine i've been longing for! amen amen amen
John -- Completely agree. Although, for me, photos and such...I like hearing what people have to say about them.
Vince -- You are welcome. ;-)
I thankfully found this a long time ago. I probably would have given up on facebook if it was still emailing me everything.
Stacey -- I know many that have...or are thinking about it. I nearly went nuts until I found this. ;-)
Clint, good write up. It is easy if you know what to do.
Ted -- Knowledge is power, right? ;-)
thank you. I had been trying to figure this out.
Faye -- You are welcome.
Didn't realize there was an option to get the emails or not. Thank you!
Hey Clint.....where were you with this great info two days ago when I had to go into Borders and buy FACEBOOK FOR DUMMIES?????? ROFL
Bruce -- Yup...and for just about everything, it seems.
Jean -- LOL!!! Ooops. ;-)
THANK YOU!!! Finally, I can reclaim my inbox from the hoard of invading Facebook emails! ;)
Phly -- You are quite welcome. ;-) Glad this helped you.
HI CLINT! Well - you made my day - after getting 52 emails yesterday just because I liked something .... I am headed there right now! -- Gab
Gabrielle -- Hi! Mid 30's is about an average for me. My top was 94 in one day (I was really facebook heavy that day....). Nearly killed myself and Mark Zuckerburg that day...LOL!
Great info Clint. Thanks for sharing that so I don't have to take the time to figure it out myself. I always appreciate the help!
Carla -- My pleasure. Happy it helped. ;-)
One more thing I'm going to have to do now. Thanks for the advice, Clint. And for helping me clean up my in box.
Thank you, thank you, thank you!! Margaret C
Sure beats getting all these notifications.
Thank you! This makes me CRAZY...
I needed this. Doing it right now. Thanks
Clint - thanks for the tip. I had to spend time finding this out. I'm certainly going to pass your blog on to others.
I just delete the emails along with all the other mail I don't want to read
Erica -- Believe me....it helps so much! ;-)
Margaret -- You are welcome. ;-)
Tammie -- Agreed.
Nathan -- Yes. Yes they are...
Lori -- Very welcome.
Mark -- Hope it helps.
Harj -- Thanks. I appreciate that.
Val -- I got tired of even seeing it since I get a hundred or so a day. ugh...
Thanks, Clint! Now I will engage even more than I usually do on Facebook! Your timing is perfect, as usual!

Diane (or Stephen) -- That is exacty what this has allowed me to do also. Very pleased about it. ;-)
I was wondering how I could stop the daily influx of FB messages I've been getting. And here you've gone and provided the solution...great...Now all I have to do is delete all of the messages from my inbox...oh that's a breeze...
You are a king. This is valuable. Sometimes it pays to be here. This was driving me nuts. End of story.
Love the clear and concise "how to do" list.
Thanks.... Hoo Gnu?
Lol...
You'd think we were talking rocket science Clint :)
To All...
If you use FireFox as your browser, there are several add-ons that address this type of thing. You can shut people off completely as well as hide all the gaming apps. I don't care if you just collected a cupcake :)
TLW...ROAR!
Clint,
Did not adjust my setting just ... If I like it more than likly I can find a new friend or two who likes it too. Just keeping it social.
Why connect with people that you have no interest in? Now that's a waste of time.
However great post on how to manage your FB settings.
Thanks for the solution.
Useful information, thanks Clint. Off to facebook now to make those changes!
But you might miss someones Farmville Report! How could you live with yourself!
Nice, I was just going to stop commenting and clicking the LIKE button but a Talker and commenter such as myself I am compelled! Thanks for helping clean up my email---hooray no more FB messages!
Great post.....Thanks! 15 minutes of work to save 20 minutes a day deleting!! Thanks again.
Clint,
I solved the email issue, now I just wish there were a way to stop all of the texts when you comment on someone's post. Have a great weekend.
@allstarmom3
Thanks for the post. Good info
Thank you!!!
Awesome! Thank you very much for sharing that tip. I really needed that! :)
The Lovely Wife noted that in Foxfire you could hide the game aps. It is not necessary to use Foxfire etc to hide the Farmville "stuff". If you click the "hide" button you can opt to just hide the game not the person. When you hide Farmville for that person for instance you have hidden it forever from everyone. No more request for dirt or corn.
Did that ages ago one second after the novelty of fb wore off. Thanks for thinking to share this tip. I sorta took it for granted.
Now it is even easier to eliminate this mess and eliminate the notifications you get from FB itself...
When you 'like' or comment on something, a new link will appear that says UNSUBSCRIBE. Simply click on that link and you will not be notified when the other 74 people comment or like the same page you did.
That way, even the notifications from FB are eliminated. ;-)
