Ok...I have a confession to make: I am a Twitteraholic.
More than that, I'm a BAD Twitteraholic. I don't mean that I'm highly addicted to social networking (although that is certainly true). I mean that I am guilty of using Twitter incorrectly.
Yup. I'm a bad tweeter.
Twitter was originally designed as a micro-blog - a short snip-it of what is occurring in your life at this exact moment stylized in 140 characters or less. So...nothing worth of a full-blown blog...but, a snapshot of what is happening right now.
"I'm at Starbucks meeting with clients"
"Just closed on a $372,000 home! Party time!"
"Working on a blog post about being a bad Twitter user"
"Just washed the dog and now my house smells like wet St. Bernard"
You know....that kind of thing.
But, what it has turned into is something so much more for me. And, I am guilty of being a bad tweeter.
I am guilty of using it as a way to communicate and establish relationships with agents across the country and around the world like some kind of wordly rolodex. I am guilty if using it like a giant global chat room; a resource center that I would never had been able to tap without using Twitter.
Yup...I'm guilty alright. Guilty of using Twitter to my FULLEST advantage! I have learned more and met more supremely qualified people on Twitter than I had ever hoped to when I started this experiment. I have relationships with some of the industry's top dogs and have developed friendships with some of the best, most qualified people I have ever had the opportunity to meet.
I'm guilty of talking to my friends daily and knowing what is going on with their kids, their dogs, their farms, their commutes on slick roads, their caffeine addictions, their blogging habits, their successful attempts at becoming a blogging coaches, their followers and un-followers, their radio shows, their peculiar habit of wearing a tux to their closings, their work habits, their successes, their failures, their favorite foods, their favorite music, and even what color of underwear they have on currently. And...I share mine as well.
Oh...and the crimes get worse!
I am guilty of tapping into the business power of Twitter as well!!
Yes, I said business power! (And if you don't think there is business power in Twitter, you are very wrong...)
I have used Twitter to access agents (my customers) and am currently working with many of them on www.recr.com SOLELY because of my involvement with Twitter. In fact, since I joined Twitter 4 months ago, I can attribute nearly $30,000 in sales for myself alone just to Twitter!
Yup. I'm guilty.
I'm a bad Twitter user. I'm a bad tweeter. I'm a bad ‘Twit'.
But, I wouldn't have it any other way.
If you would like information on www.recr.com and how we can get you more closings, you should contact Clint at 800-977-7058 or follow Clint on Twitter at www.twitter.com/recr.

Awesome post Clint! And feel free to send me all your Orlando referrals. OK?
Chris -- Thanks, man! I thought it was pretty funny, myself. :-) And, I have lots of opening in Orlando!! Lets talk!
All I can say is that if you're not on Twitter you are missing out especially on the great humor, wit and knowledge of Clint. Twitter is a new concept to me but I am thoroughly enjoying getting to know people there. Clint - you are a great Twit! Plus, he gives out free whopper coupons if you follow him!!! ~Anne Marie
Anne Marie -- Awwwwww...Im blushing a bit. :-) I love Twitter! But man, I sure as hell use it wrong..LOL!
Clint...you are my model for "bad" behavior!
Lesley -- Stick with me, kid....you and me....we'll go places. :-)
By this point you should be overcome with guilt my friend.
JL -- Racked....just racked with it. No....really! I am! Honest...
Featured @ Club Chaos
Awwwww, Carolyn! Thanks! I appreciate that!!
That is very JIE ! I enjoy the fact that you talk on Twitter and do not just post infomercials. Of course, you want to spread the word, but you want people to know who you are. Congrats on the success. I've only been on twitter about 2 months or so, but so far I am loving it. Making friends, connecting with local people in our area, sharing some info about me within 140 characters, and Im having fun (see... you do love your job).
congratulations! I can attest the fact that it works because I would not know about your business and what you do without Twitter!!
Clint - Congrats on the success with twitter. I think that is JIE ! I have only been on twitter for about 2 months, but I have met new friends, connected with local homeowners, learned to micro-blog with 140 characters, and Im having fun. See.. you do love your job.
Hey. I'm having a tweet-up in Manhattan today with a couple of business owners who direct messaged me. I guess I'm a bad, naughty, tweeter because I have running conversations all over the globe about everything (LOL).
Clint, I am guilty too... Great to hear about your success that is amazing. I wish I had more time to spend on Twitter it is useful and fun for networking.
John -- Jie usage of the word Jie!!! Thanks for keepin the faith! :-)
Sandy -- Very true! And Im looking forward to working with you (when we get the chance!)
John -- Thank you very much again! Jie people UNITE! :-)
C -- LMAO! You are the queen of global convo's my dear!
Josef -- Welcome to my world! :-) Luckily, I work in front of a puter...so, Im on there all the time. Wait...is that luck? Not sure now...lol!
Clint this is an awesome post! I am a fan of twitter myself and use it but I am sure I could be doing more with it. I love your graphic...where did you get it? It is just fantastic!!!
Oh, it's so very true... I can definitely relate.
I was just at another tweetup last night, and my wife keeps wondering how/why these relationships are of benefit to me. The funny thing is that you never know who will end up benefiting you. It just always seems that someone in your network does...
I'm about to throw in the towel on trying to explain it. It works for people who give it a chance, and it doesn't for everyone else and the two will probably never meet. (I'll just continue to be that crazy guy that twitters all the time, and everyone will continue to shake their heads thinking "oh that poor guy who is addicted to his chat room thingamabob."")
Bill -- Thank you so much! If you are on Twitter...follow me, @recr....I will reciprocate. Oh...and the graphic is form a pile of pics I had on my puter from 2 years ago I was sifting through earlier this week...I just thought it was fitting for this post...lol.
Joel - Havent had the chance to do a Tweetup yet. I can count the number of Tweeters in my area in one hand, I think..LOL! My wife HATES twitter!!! LOL!!! I have already given up on explaining it to her...so, I know the feeling! In fact, I just got a rashing of crap for being on it til 11pm last night instead of letting her post our family pictures on MySpace...LOL!!!
This is hilarious and so true!~ Congrats on the feature! KM
Clint... I'm aware that you're a twitter-holic... honestly it's why I de-followed you... 'cause there were dozens and dozens of tweets from you, and they filled up my screen.
(not that you're not awesome... but I wanted to see some of the tweets from the others I follow.)
Clint - The nice thing about having so many RE.net users on Twitter is that we're always coming up with more 'bad' ways to use it. Congrats on the business!
Kristin -- Awesome, aint it??? LOL! And thanks!
Alan -- No worries, man. I am on here all day long and I have relationships with practically all 496 of my followers. So, Im around ALOT! Im sure youre not the first person that left for that reason. LOL!
John -- Sooo true! LOL! Thanks!
I admit to not getting it at first, but I love Twitter, too:)
You are one of my favorite "Twits"..you have a great time there and I think you are so successful because you seem to be very trusting...keep on misbehaving. It works for you:)
Courtney -- Im addicted...horribly. LOL!
Elizabeth -- Awwwww, thank you so much! Yeah, its working so far...lol! I think it has to do with the transparency...I dont hide anything. LOL! (including the color of my underwear...LMAO)
And....to all of my followers -- THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! For those of you that are new to twitter, please add me @recr! I look forward to it!!!
Very cool - With just a little time on twitter you can start to see how relationships form real fast. A friend of a friend "instantly" because an acquaintance with you ... its very cool.
Nice job and I am glad that you have realized such success with Twitter...you Twit!!! LOL!!!
Steve -- Exactly! And it happens fast! It is much harder to get your first 100 followers than it is to get to 500. Once it starts...its like opening a floodgate.
Sonya -- Thank you very much! Me too!! Im most happy with it at this point!
Clint...
You are a twitter master, that's for sure! I don't get on as often as I like, and I'm not using a mobile devices yet! Good post, good information and a well deserved gold star!
Clint - Hilarious post. Thanks. I can certainly attest to your using Twitter well and in my view, properly. Good for you on the numbers...that's impressive.
Richard -- LOL! Yeah, its a drug...Im addicted. I have dabbled in tweeting from my phone, but its too cumbersome for me...so, I just post when Im near a puter. Thanks!
Matt -- Thanks, man! Im glad you liked it...and thanks for the validation. :-)
Hi Clint. Amazing that knowing what color underwear someone is wearing today leads to $30,000 in sales. But whatever works, works. Don't fight it.
Gary -- Funny how it works, man....but, Im not complaining! Im just admitting that Im a bad tweeter...LOL!
Enjoyed reading your post. I signed up for twitter, but alas I'v done nothing...But, now after reading your post, I'll get started.
you're just encouraging me to tweet more & type less!
Well, tweet away----I just have such a hard time grasping this concept. I know it's so popoular but don't know just WHY we do it.
I am definately going to join tonight.
Marcy Moyer Keller Williams Realty Palo Alto, Ca.
Rebecca -- Thank you so much for reading! If you have a TWitter account, add me (@recr) and I would be happy to help you into it!
Kristin -- im not saying to give up blogging...but, Im saying Twitter is awesome. :-)
Diane -- I shall! :-) I did too, at first...but, Im hopelessly addicted now...lol
Marcy -- Please do! And add me when you do! @recr Id be happy to introduce you to the masses! :-)
Too funny!! I'm guilty also!!
I have a twitter account but I'm not a super-user, I havent been connecting with a lot of other people so I am not as active on the site. I am looking to learn more.
Clint.. I guess I need to learn to be a bad twitter... I need more referrals in Clarksville TN too
Clint - Obviously, you and I have become friends from our involvement on Twitter. I have enjoyed getting to know you! Someday, we might actually meet in person. Keep up the good work, buddy.
Good job Clint. I wish I could find time for all this and my life too. It is sooo hard to balance.
Catina -- Please dont hesitate to add me! @recr Id love to chat with ya...
Morgan -- Add me...I will show you around.
Roland -- LOL! Well, follow me and I can show you how to be a bad one...LOL! As far as the referrals go....give me a call. Im sure we can work something out...:-)
Jason -- If everything goes according to plan, we should be meeting sometime next year. :-)
Paddy -- Yeah, its a difficutl balance. Im lucky in that I work in front of a puter all day long. So, Twitter is never far from my side...LOL
Clint - OK I feel better now... I just started using it and I thought I was using it the wrong way. Thanks I need that :)
Maria -- Good...Im glad you do! Youre not the only one...LOL! Feel free to add me..... @recr
Clint -- great post -- I too am finding my self addicted to Twitter - AR and Facebook -- your fellow addicted Twitt -- @EllisJason --
Jason -- Thanks. Much appreciated. AR and Twitter for me...not a FB fan as of yet...but, Im warming up to it.
Jeff -- Well, if you have any questions, please feel free to ask me.
What!?! Twitter isn;t a giant chat room? Someone should have told me long before today! LOL! I too am using Twitter in a way that it was originally not intended for, but has evolved into. And, I am enjoying every minute of it. My business explosion is a side note to my activity on Twitter. My increasing abilities as a Realtor is the #1 most important value Twitter has granted me. So, I will continue to tweet my daily holidays, my life sagas while my hubby is gone, and my neurosis, cause that's who I am and my followers love that about me!
Sarah! Thanks so much for stopping by!
LOL@ Twitter being a giant chat room. Yes, it has evolved into just that. But, I LOVE IT!!!!! And, there is nothing more I like than hearing what holiday it is...LOL! Makes me smile every day! So, keep it up!!!
Elayna Fernandez - Small Business Marketing Naples FL
Elayna -- Yes it is!!! Much fun!
That was awesome, Clint! (I tried to respond to this post earlier but... well, you know.)
Anyway, you are absolutely right! I had someone tell me that there was no way to get clients or grow your business from Twitter. I beg to differ and now, I've got YOU to differ with me!
~Renae
Congratulations on the feature. Getting into Twitter isn't as easy as some people think it is. But it's worth it if you can get past the initial shock of multiple streams of conversation coming at you all at the same time. (Oh, and congratulations on your success with Twitter!)
Kathy
You're sooooooooo bad, you're good!
I recently created my twitter account, but haven't done much yet. Your post makes me motivated to get going already and start twitting, I mean tweeting!
Clint-I am guilty too. I do not use it as much as AR, but I do drop by. Rocky VanBrimmer got me started on Twitter before I was on Rain. I still have a lot to learn about it and in time, I will.. It is good to go there and see you on. Good Post as always.
JoAnna -- I love it! Please go ahead and add me (@recr) and I would be happy to help you get going.
Laura -- Thanks! Im glad you liked the post...Yeah, I see you once in a while...you should pop in more.
Clint - loved your post. Twitter is am amzing place to be if you take time to see what's going on and consider the potential. I know a number of folks who have derived business from it, but there is, of course, considerable value in the relationship-building as well, plus getting answers to questions.
Jeff
Time to jump on this bandwagon! I'm just starting to see what it is all about.
Jeff -- Thanks! Yeah, it is...and loaded with potential...IF you work it right.
Mike -- Feel free to add me....Id be happy to show you around. @recr
Who the hell wears a Tux to a closing??? You might use Twitter wrong, but at least you're tactful. You don't hound a body, but wait until they ask. And it's fun to talk with you on twitter. BTW, white mostly.
Marianne -- I know of two guys that do currently...and I know of two that are thinking about trying it. So, it must work. Yeah, I do use it wrong...but, thanks for the kind words!
